Dear Parents and Carers,
On behalf of the staff, governors and children, welcome to the Cabot Primary School Website.
Cabot is a transforming primary school located in the heart of St Pauls, Bristol. It is a diverse and vibrant community, a short distance from the city centre with a rich and proud history.
Our core values reflect our belief that education is often collaborative, based on great relationships and should prepare children for life. It underpins everything we do at Cabot Primary School.
Partnership: if the whole school community works together, our children will have the best chance of success.
Inclusion: we recognise that because we are all different we need to be treated as individuals to get the best out of each other, and we select teaching strategies and resources that reflect our diversity.
Excellence: our children are entitled to an excellent education. This means that we expect the best from everyone.
Look at our improving results, our improving OFSTED reports, but most importantly, if you are not a parent already and are considering our school, come and meet us and see for yourself.
We are proud of our children and staff, and we are certain you will be impressed too!
I Have a Dream by Khalid Adan Year 6 (inspired by Martin Luther)
"I have a dream of a world with the ultimate peace. Where rushing bullets change into helping hands. Where spiteful comments turn into cheerful praises. Where children always have something to smile about. I believe that we live in a ‘survival of the fittest’ world, is this human? Seeing another suffer and just block them out because they have no effect on you? Is this how we should act? No.
I see a vision where status doesn’t really matter. Where a child can see the setting sun from a breathtaking view, and not from a city bedroom. Where instead of waking up to sounds of car horns and artificial sounds, you wake up to the soft singing of the birds. Where the world listens to anyone’s voice in any language and acts on them without discrimination or hesitation. Where the main priority is happiness and peace, and not how much salary is going around.
I close these eyes of mine and see a world that thinks it alien to have wars of any kind, where people can get along with one another without a concern of race, gender, ranking and class, where everyone is someone important. Where the successful man helps the less fortunate man to succeed as well, and no-one is left behind in the shadows. Where children have the right to food, clean water, and a stable family structure and education. This should be the minimum expectation.
Now you can just take in what I say here today, think a bit, and not act...You might think that your contribution isn’t worth anything at all, but if you believe this, then you are truely living in denial. Your actions have the potential to change the world for the better permanently. A small change to your daily activities can, over time, make a huge impact on the Earth. This includes such things as reaching into your pocket to give loose change to the local charity. You might want to go a step further and hold a fund raising event, who’s there to stop you? Go all the way, you have my vote.
You can start treating this world better and with a bit more respect, like recycling - it sounds like a drag, but it’s simple. Just put things in the right disposal units and think of the dramatic effects this would have if every single person on planet Earth did this?
To put things simply, I see the perfect world for all. Of course, nothing is perfect, but does that mean we should settler for half? We need to start acting now because this is the only world we have after all."
