Visit From Marvin Rees

We had the great pleasure of welcoming our city mayor – Marvin Rees to Cabot today.   Marvin spoke in assembly about the work he did on Christmas Day with the Muslims for Bristol organsiation.  He explained how he and many other men, women and children of different faiths and backgrounds came together to help homeless people in Bristol by donating food.  We think this is a great example of inclusion.  We know we achieve our best when we include everyone in our celebrations.  Marvin also met with our pupil council and gave some inspirational advice about how we can continue to improve our school and wider community.

M-Shed Wildlife Photography Exhibition

Year 2 were so lucky to have been given the opportunity to visit the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the MShed in Bristol. National Friendly, a Bristol-based mutual society, and Ablaze, a charity which targets inequality amongst the young in the South West worked alongside us to organise and fund this thought provoking and inspiring trip.

During our time at the MShed we managed to explore the whole museum, our favourite parts were the bus and the fruit and veg shop. You can see us enjoying ourselves in the photos below.

The photography exhibition was amazing and we couldn’t believe that children had taken some of the photos of the wildlife, this inspired many of the children to have a go at taking photos themselves.
