Black Lives Matter

Following the absolutely horrific incident in America, I would like to express my commitment to making our views heard and stand together to condemn the brutal killing of George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis.
The death of George Floyd has prompted reflection about racism in Britain today, and the extent to which it shapes our values, politics and economic life. Our community needs and deserves to feel safe in the belief that we condemn all acts of racism and violence and moreover that we believe racism is an abhorrence and that we have a duty to address systemic racism in our society.
We have seen protests in our own city of Bristol which have included the pulling down of the statue the slave trader Edward Colston. This incident has prompted many more question about why this statue was still on display in the centre of Bristol in 2020. We see that more needs to be done to address the legacy of slavery and racist inequalities that still exist to today.
At Cabot Primary School we continue to follow our school values of Partnership, Inclusion and Excellence and we are united in our commitment to tackle and challenge racism, address inequality and call out discrimination.
