On Wednesday 17th July, Year 2 perfomed at Redgrave Theatre, Clifton. They bravely took to the stage to sing ‘Family Tree’ which they performed beautifully.
The audience were asked to spot super singers and by the end of the song, every hand in the audience was up as they were so impressed with Year 2!
Our latest maths week was a great success. This year the focus was ‘real-life maths’, with a particular focus on shape.
Year 3, 4 5 and 6 were all visited by STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) volunteers who ran bridge building workshops. As well as learning about the importance of strong shapes, pupils used their measuring and calculating skills to help construct and test their bridges.
Key stage one and Foundation Stage also thought about shape. In these classes children carried out shape hunts inside and outside the school and thought about shapes they may find in other environments outside of school. This led to much discussion about the properties of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes.
Additional to the work on real-life shape, all classes were given a budget of £10 to buy materials for and make a product to sell at a sale at the end of the week. The profits for each class will then be donated to the classes’ chosen charity. The sale was a huge success, every class made a profit. A particularly big Well Done goes to year four who raised £32 for their chosen charity, the most profit made.
Below are some photos of a selection of the many activities that took place over the course of the week, enjoy!
