Primary Maths Challenge

We are very proud that some pupils from Cabot took part in a National Maths Competition last week  It was really tough – even Mrs Cartlidge couldn’t answer all the questions in time!

Pupils will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates for this round and we will find out in the next couple of weeks whether the scores of any Cabot pupils were high enough to go through to the final round in February.

Well done Year 5 and 6 pupils and thank you Mrs Cartlidge for giving us the opportunity to take part.

Monday 13th November is Odd Socks Day

On Monday 13th November we will be celebrating Odd Socks Day as part of  Anti-Bullying Week.  This is a national event supported by our good friend Andy Day who visited us a couple of years ago. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity for children to express themselves and appreciate individuality and uniqueness!  We are inviting everyone, children and grown-ups, to come to school wearing odd socks for the day.  The odder the better!

Below are some links to further information about Odd Socks Day and about how you can help tackle bullying.

Online Safety Talk

Krimo and Bijou, our local neighbourhood PCSOs, came to deliver a very informative online safety presentation this morning.  They gave some very useful advice about how to help your children stay safe online.  A key message was making sue you have good open dialogue between yourselves and your children about their online activity.  It is important that children know who they can tell if something they see online upsets them.  You may have filters on your computers but they don’t prevent all risks.   Krimo also gave some very good advice about how to check the online search history and why it might be a concern if it is regularly deleted.   If you have any online concerns about online safety then please let us know in school.  There is further guidance on our own online safety page at the link below.

Discovery Course at Horseworld

Yesterday was the final session of our first complete Discovery Course Programme run in partnership with Horseworld.   The horse is a unique, ideal tool to promote emotional growth and learning in young people.  Over the past few weeks, children have been learning about the wide range of skills and temperament needed to work alongside and care for horses.  Yesterday finished with some great riding skills and some horsey hugs.  Well done to all the participants on the programme.

Key Stage 1 visit to Weston-Super-Mare

Our Year 1 and Year 2 classes had a fantastic day at the beach this week.  As well as all the fun learning in the sand and sea there was still time for a tasty ice-cream treat to keep us cool in the warm sunshine.  Thank you parents for joining in with all the activities and not being afraid to get your feet wet!
